Thomas Kail, Tony Award-winning director of Hamilton, is a producer of this life-affirming musical comedy, which celebrates the dynamics of a South Asian family. Directed by Roshan Sethi, World's Best focuses adoringly on 12-year-old mathematics genius Prem Patel (Manny Magnus), who has always dedicated himself to academic excellence. Prem didn't really know his recently deceased father Suresh (Utkarsh Ambudkar), who lived by a simple mantra: "the world's best never rest." It transpires that Suresh was a famous rapper and Prem becomes fixated on the idea of following in his father's musical footsteps by harnessing the hip hop in his DNA. The boy's mother Priya (Punam Patel) tries to steer Prem back to trigonometry and algebra but the pre-teen is determined to live out his new dream, empowered by music-fuelled fantasies that feature the wisecracking ghost of Suresh
