Ailing aspiring actress Olga Treskovna dies before the premiere of her first feature film, and her smitten agent Bill Dunnigan agrees to take her body back to her hometown for burial, as per her last request. Olga's other final wish is for her movie to reach cinemas, despite opposition from studio executives, who are reluctant to introduce a new star who can no longer appear in other films. However, Olga hoped her starring role will help inspire the people of her down-at-heel hometown to seize control of their futures, and Bill teams up with local priest Father Paul to ensure Olga's legacy is fulfilled.
