Bert, a stand-up comedian known as 'The Machine', is targeted by the Russian mob when his hard-partying past catches up with him 20 years down the road. Bert and his father are kidnapped to atone for those he wronged, and together they must re-trace the steps of his younger self while attempting to find common ground in their often fraught relationship.
