The Earth Is a Sinful Song

Laplanders interact with Finns in this Finnish movie. Providing a rare glimpse into the communal life of these tribal people, it tells the story of a Finnish girl who falls in love with a Lap man and bears his child. Her father won't hear of her marrying him and chases the man away over a frozen lake. When the man falls through, no one but the guilt-stricken father calls it murder. He is unable to endure the protests of his conscience and finally commits suicide.
