Troubled youngster Tommo runs away to London where he meets Marek, a shy Polish immigrant who lives with his labourer father in run-down Somers Town. Tommo moves into their small flat, and the pair end up doing odd jobs for an eccentric neighbour and competing for the attention of a French waitress - while trying to keep their escapades a secret from Marek's father.
