A Crusader becomes disillusioned with the conflict in the Holy Land and, with the aid of a Muslim traveller, wanders into the desert. He is tempted to renounce his vows to the church over reports of atrocities and his attraction to a widow who gives them shelter, but a secret from his friend's past brings the war to their doorstep.
