Fred Daly lives a quiet, lonely life on the coast of Dublin Bay – in his car. One day Cathal, a dope- smoking 21-year-old with a positive attitude, arrives and becomes his neighbour. He seems determined to make Fred sort his life out. As Cathal’s infectious energy rubs off on him, Fred tackles and beats the welfare system, swims to keep himself in shape, and makes friends with a music teacher who lives alone nearby. But their tentative romance falters when Fred can’t find a way to tell Jules where and how he lives. Meanwhile Cathal’s safety, and ultimately his life, are threatened by his escalating drug habit. Fred will find a way out of his car park and back to the noise and warmth of a life shared with other people, but it will have been a close call.
