Known primarily in the United States for his lifelong struggle to voice the plight of the Palestinian people, Said was a constant proponent of reconciliation and coexistence. In this film, documentary director Makoto Sato blends passages from Said's memoir and various writings with home movie footage dating back to 1947 as well as interviews with a wide variety of Arab, Israeli, and American cultural critics. The resulting tribute to Said not only celebrates the influential thinker's personal life, but the endless importance of his life work as well.
