Kamiel Spiessens lives in the small Flemish village of Klapsteke on an isolated little farm. Together with his dog Walter, he spends most of his time gardening and stargazing. His life is suddenly disrupted when mayor Stasse announces a plan to build a large recreation centre, Megaland, in the village. A Dutch investor, John Karstens, would like to build large hotels, shops and other facilities on Kamiel Spiessens' property. Kamiel, faced with an eviction order, challenges this plan. John Karstens decides to take care of the Spiessens affair personally. He travels from Holland to Flanders. After money and all other attempts to persuade Kamiel (such as the lovely secretary Andrea) have failed, Karstens uses the ultimate weapon: he kidnaps Walter, Kamiel's dog and best friend.. Kamiel would do anything to get his dog back, but will he sell his farm?
