Featuring reworkings of pop songs by Nirvana, David Bowie, Elton John and others. Moulin Rouge! won two of the eight Oscars it was nomated for, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, and Best Costume Design. Bafta also handed out a couple of plaudits - Jim Broadbent for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, and Craig Armstrong and Marius De Vries also landed the Anthony Asquith Best Film Music award at the 2002 ceremony. Trivia fans may note that at the time, this was the most lucrative musical since Grease in 1978
