This documentary examines the effects of mercury poisoning on the inhabitants of the Japanese fishing village of Minamata. Until Bhopal, this was the worst-known case of poisoning resulting from industrial pollution. This documentary allows the victims to speak for themselves. It also shows in some detail their efforts to gain some acknowledgment of the facts from the companies involved and the Japanese government.~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
