Billy (20) hopes that after his hard time in the military he can do what he wants. However his father and girlfriend Mieke pressure him to find a job. He turns down a career ready-made in his father's building business and fails at every other attempt to find a decent job. Even his relationship with Mieke reaches a critical point, and she decides to leave him when she loses her job and the financial worries pile up. So Billy is left alone to discover his role in a society he no longer believes in.
