Three children deal with differing sorts of emotional and financial hardship in this independent comedy-drama from Malaysia. Li Ahh (Lim Ming Wei) and Li Ohm (Wong Zi Jiang) are young brothers who are growing up without a mother. Making matters worse, their father Sui (James Lee) isn't much on showing warmth or affection to his children, and would rather work overtime than talk to his sons. When they're not in school, Ahh and Ohm often have to fend for themselves, and dealing with problems without adult assistance has become second nature to them, especially given their strong mischievous streak. The boys strike up a friendship with Ayu (Amira Nasuha Binti Shahiran), a similarly rambunctious girl from the neighborhood who is also being raised by a single parent; however, while Sui seems to know or care little about his boys, Auy's mother (Mislina Mustaffa) gives her daughter the sort of love and guidance missing in the Li household. Flower In The Pocket was the first feature film from writer and director Liew Seng Tat.~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
