Three young women must deal with both loyalty and survival in this hard-hitting coming-of-age drama. Katya (Polina Filonenko), Vika (Olga Shuvalova) and Zhanna (Agina Kuznetsova) are three teenage girls living in a decaying working-class neighborhood not far from Moscow. Katya comes from an abusive household where she's often beaten by her father, and she responds by acting out in school. Vika is the frequent target of a gang of female bullies who rough her up in the girl's restroom at school. And Zhanna is given to severe mood swings and has tried to kill herself, though more as an effort to show off than anything else. After telling off one of her teachers in a moment of anger, Katya storms out of school and runs away, hoping to leave her dysfunctional family behind. Authorities at school present Vika and Zhanna with an ultimatum -- either they persuade Katya to come back to school and face her punishment, or a dance that the students have been waiting for will be cancelled. Vse Umrut, a ya Ostanus (aka Everybody Dies But Me) was the first feature film from director Valeria Gaia Germanika.~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
