When Sabine Arnauld is told she'll be spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair, she asks God to let her walk again. In return she'll enter a convent the following year. When she's cured, she can't keep her promise to God because she fell in love and got married. After a series of fatal events, she decides to fulfill her promise and enters a convent. But life in the convent doesn't bring her inner peace. And after an argument with mother superior, she decides to leave for India, where her sister lives.
