Liz (Birch) is a spoilt rich girl at an exclusive English boarding school. In a bid to avoid a Geography field trip, she and three of her dislikeable friends, spend a weekend in an underground bunker. Two weeks later, Liz is found wandering around the woods, extremely traumatised about her experiences in 'the hole'. Although director Hamm seems to have a wealth of ideas, he's unsure of what to do with them. Thus, after taking the trouble to set up an interesting premise, Hollywood convention is allowed to dominate in the final third. Thankfully, it never quite becomes mediocre but The Hole could have been so much more. Still, it's worth a look.
