Precocious kid Simon Birch (Smith) decides that his birth was a miracle and vows that his life should reflect this fact. Based - very loosely - on John Irving's 'A Prayer for Owen Meany', 'Simon Birch' leaches the basic storyline of Irving's irony. As a result, 'Simon Birch' (character and movie) comes across as irritating, shrill and pointless.
