Stylish if not altogether convincing tale of demonic possession starring Winona Ryder as Maya Larkin - an exorcism survivor who becomes convinced the Devil is about to arrive on earth. The body that Satan plans to inhabit is best selling crime author Peter Kelson (Ben Chaplin), a devoutly committed atheist. First time director Kaminski was formerly Steven Spielberg's cinematographer, and his unique and occasionally thrilling sense of visual dynamics is evident throughout Lost Souls. The same can't be said for the story, which - despite the competent cast - lags under its own pretensions.
