Dunst plays Torrance Shipman - the newly elected team captain of the Toro cheerleading squad who discovers that all of her predecessor's award-winning routines were nicked from the poverty-stricken East Compton Clovers. While Bring It On is well staged, designed and decently played, it doesn't seem to be sure whether it's a satire on the vacuous pursuit of cheerleading or a straight teen comedy. Though promising a lot more than it actually delivers, the energy and odd direct hit makes for an enjoyable - if hardly remarkable - movie.
