The comedic actor, best known for his role in NBC’s Chuck, has been handed a life changing role.
Levi will star in the DC comic book adaptation which follows the life of Billy Batson, a young boy who transforms into an adult superhero when he says the magic word ‘Shazam!’.
Shazam is an acronym of the ancient world gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury, from whom the young boy gets his superhero powers. So now you know.
Levi is currently starring alongside Chris Hemsworth and Cate Blanchett as Fandral in Taika Waititi’s excellent Thor: Ragnarok. Read our review here.
David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) will direct Shazam which is the next DC film to go into production early next year. No release date has been confirmed but we’ll more than likely have to wait until 2019.
