Disney are going full steam ahead with their plans for a live action Aladdin remake and they're going big for the Genie.
According to Deadline, the studio is in negotiations with Will Smith to take on the role made famous by Robin Williams in the 1992 original.
Smith was previously rumoured to be in discussions to play a role in Tim Burton's Dumbo remake and the report does say that the parties are very much in the early stages of negotiations.
Guy Ritchie will be calling the shots behind the camera for the remake with Big Fish writer John August on scripting duties. The remake is expected to be a live action musical so expect all of the numbers from the animated classic to be retained with some new possible additions.
So what do you think of Smith in the role? It's hard to think of any other star with enough personality to take it on to be honest.
