Actors who have gone on to become politicians are surprisingly common in America.
There's been the likes of Al Franken, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fred Thompson, and of course, Ronald Reagan. Even Clint Eastwood did a spell as a mayor of a small Californian town in the '80s. So when Will Smith says he's interested in venturing into politics, it's not that surprising.
Smith was on the podcast 'Pod Save America' to help promote his upcoming Netflix documentary, 'Amend', and the topic of potentially joining the political circus in the US came up. "I will certainly do my part, whether it remains artistic or, at some point, ventures into the political arena," said Smith.
In the past, the actor donated to Barack Obama's presidential campaign in 2008, and hosted the Nobel Peace Prize Concert the year that Obama won, so he's no stranger to politics in the US. All that said, however, Smith said he's "gonna let that office (the Oval Office) get cleaned up a little bit."
We'll have to wait for the Big Willy Style presidency, unfortunately.
