X-Men Apocalypse's production is moving along nicely, with a good few set photos revealing an 80's-influenced superhero story with a pretty impressive cast.
We're liking Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse and the recent glimpses of Sophie Turner as young Jean Grey look pretty great, too.
However, Singer's X-Meniverse (coining that phrase, by the way) could soon be coming to an end.
As Hugh Jackman himself confirmed, Wolverine 3 - which will undoubtedly feature his three claws SOMEWHERE in the poster - will be his last outing as the mutton-chopped mutant.
A rumour was posted to Instagram (no, really) last night which points towards Singer wrapping up his involvement with the series with Apocalypse and Wolverine 3.
This tracks with Jackman's statement and, we're guessing, the timeline for Apocalypse. After all, Apocalypse will be set in the mid-1980's and the first X-Men was set in and around 1999, bringing us up to date with the sequels that followed.
Not only that, Jennifer Lawrence also stated that Apocalypse would be her last outing as Mystique and we've gotta imagine it's the same for McAvoy and Fassbender.
We're just thinking now, but we could absolutely see an early 90's X-Men movie too. Wolverine gets mistaken for a grunge singer. Jean Grey and Cyclops do aerobics together. Rogue's big into Clarissa Explains It All.
This thing practically writes itself.
Don't be in the least bit surprised if we see Marvel / Disney snap up the rights to X-Men once Fox and Singer are finished with Apocalypse, too.
Considering how they negotiated a deal with Sony for Spider-Man, it makes sense that they'll try to get a look at some of Marvel's core characters.
