It's not often that actors are willing to divulge information about their sex lives. Emma Thompson, however, is sound and doesn't care. How refreshing. She's funny too, revealing that the perm she endured for her role in Saving Mr Banks (trust us, it aint pretty) meant that she didn't get her bit for a full six months. Talk about commitment to her craft, eh?
Speaking to Parade, the ever-affable actress spoke of her hair woes: "It was a nightmare! People would bleat in the streets as I went by... I didn't have sex for six months!"
You'd think after 10 years of marriage, that her husband Greg Wisee would hardly notice if she had bright pink hair, but as it turns out, men do notice these things. Hurrah!
If only all celebrities were as care-free as Thompson here. Take K-Stew and R-Patz for example. At the height of their own media scrutiny, if they hadn't been so guarded about the whole thing, chances are we would have given much less of a sh*t and moved on to the next thing worth speculating over, within minutes. The less you care, the less we care too.
Exhibiting her nonchalance furthermore, Thompson recently spoke to The Sunday Times about her first marriage to filmmaker Kenneth Brannagh, the divil who cheated on her with fellow actress Helena Bonham Carter. Of course Thompson is well and truly beyond it at this stage and can speak openly about it, as well as not being a total wagon about Helena.
"I've had so much bloody practice at crying in a bedroom, then having to go out and be cheerful, gathering up the pieces of my heart and putting them in a drawer..."
All blood under the bridge. You can't hold on to anything like that. I just think... pfft.!"
"It's pointless. I haven't got the energy for it. Helena and I made our peace years and years ago."
And on the woman with whom her husband cheated, Thompson said: "Oh we are [alike]. Being slightly mad and a bit fashion-challenged. Perhaps that's why Ken loved us both. She's a wonderful woman, Helena."
