It’s hard to believe that Whitney Houston has been dead for a whole decade.
Since her untimely death at the age of 48, the soul-pop diva has been honoured in various ways - with her voice featuring on everything from Kygo’s ‘Higher Love’ hit in 2019, and her hologram show touring across the world in recent years.
Now, the late star’s story is set to be told on the silver screen, and the first trailer for her biopic has been revealed.
‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ will see English actress Naomi Ackie (‘The End of the Fucking World’) in the lead role, was directed by actor/director Kasi Lemmons, with a screenplay by Anthony McCarten (‘The Theory of Everything’, ‘The Two Popes’.)
It also stars Stanley Tucci as record mogul Clive Davis, while Clake Peters (‘The Wire’) will play her father, John Houston. Ashton Sanders (‘Moonlight’) will play Houston’s husband Bobby Brown.
The film, billed as "a no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice", will be released in Irish cinemas on December 26th.
