Brace yourselves X-Files fans: Gillian Anderson says there's a "very good chance" that X-Files 3 is coming.
Speaking during her Reddit Ask Me Anything interview, Anderson revealed that she thinks creator Chris Carter may well be working on the script already: "I would say that there is a very good chance that Chris is in the process of writing it, and as with any creative endeavour, it needs time and space and patience, and I have no doubt that at some point, when it's the right time, and he is happy with it, it will see the light of day, and that will be the beginning," she said.
It's been five years since Anderson reprised the role of Dana Scully in The X-Files: I Want to Believe, but she has certainly been busy in the interim: Most recently she's been chewing the scenery in RTE/BBC co-production The Fall, while playing a blinder with her guest appearances in US series like Hannibal. Is there anything this woman can't do?
There's been no official word from Carter on the future of the franchise as of yet, but we're sure fans will be more than happy to see Anderson teaming up with David Duchovny once again. We're sure the show's creator will bring an end to the speculation soon. Sure the truth is out there, as he'd say himself... *ba-dum chhhh*
