Hot off the heels of 'Isle Of Dogs', Wes Anderson is ready to launch into his next movie project - a musical comedy set in a fictional French city in the '50s.
According to French outlet Charente Libre, Anderson will be making the movie in Angoulême, which is in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France and is known for its International Comics Festival. Details translated from that report tell that Anderson is expected to begin shooting as early as November and apparently has booked off a four-to-five month window for production with a budget of around $17.5 to $23.5 million. The report also gives details of the lead and says that it's a recent Oscar winner - which could literally mean anyone, from everyone to Eddie Redmayne to Emma Stone or Frances McDormand.
After that, however, details remain sketchy at best and pretty scant on plot details - other than the setting and the expected genre. A musical comedy is a new departure for Anderson, although comedy is something he's done pretty much since his debut, 'Bottle Rocket'. That said, 'The Fantastic Mr. Fox' had a musical element to it, but Charente Libre's report specifically stated musical comedy.
