Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in Heat. Robert Redford and Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid. Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallone in Rocky IV. And now, we can add Greg Sestero and Tommy Wiseau in The Room to that list.
After a long period of absence from let's calling it "working" together, Mark and Johnny are reuniting for what can only be described as The Room But We Know What We're In For, or to give the film its official title, Best F(r)iends.
Here's the trailer.
If that looks and sounds bonkers, wait until you read the official synopsis.
"When a drifter (Greg Sestero) is taken in by a peculiar mortician (Tommy Wiseau), the two hatch an underground enterprise off the back of the mortician’s old habits. But greed, hatred, and jealousy soon come in turn, and their efforts unravel, causing the drifter to run off with the spoils and leaving the mortician adrift. An expedition across the South West introduces wild and crazy characters through a series of twisted and dark foibles as both men learn a valuable lesson about friendship and loyalty."
The film also features Paul Scheer, which people will know from the likes of Veep, The League and the podcast How Did This Get Made, which people who listen will know regularly references The Room.
The film is being released in two volumes - because, d'uh obviously greatness can't be contained in just ONE volume - and the likelihood of seeing this in an Irish cinema is exactly zero.
So, yeah, expect to see a dodgy copy of this in a grungy nightclub in about five years time.
