It looks like Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood could play a big part in the 2017 awards season.
The pair collaborate for the first time in Sully. Based on the real life event known as 'the miracle on the Hudson', Hanks plays American pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger who heroically landed troubled US Airways Flight 1549 full of passengers on the Hudson River after it struck a flock of geese shortly after takeoff from New York City’s LaGuardia Airport. The film is set to chronicle the behind the scenes story, showing the PTSD Sully suffered, as well as the unwanted media attention and the self doubt he felt during the airline's investigation into what happened.
Hanks is ably supported in the film by Laura Linney, Aaron Eckhart, Anna Gunn, and Jerry Ferrara.
