Go go 2017 reboots, the official trailer for 'Power Rangers' is here and it actually looks like our childhoods may not be about to be destroyed.
Starring Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks, the 2017 reboot of the '90s kids favourite is taking everything fans loved about the show and giving it a 21st century lick of paint and humour.
With a cast of relative unknowns as the team of Rangers, the heavy lifting will be down to Cranston's CGI Zordon (gone from glowing and whispy to cuboid and Transformers-y) and Elizabeth Banks' villain Rita Repulsa, and while we've yet to find out if Banks' take will live up to the high camp of the Rita Repulsa from the TV show, we live in hope (because if anyone can do high camp, it's Effie Trinket).
Here's the official synopsis:
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
'Power Rangers' is set for release in Irish cinemas on March 22nd.
