Oh, Ghostbusters. You poor, poor thing.
The hatred and bile that led up to its release was really something for the ages. It almost felt like the campaign against it was the beginning of Donald Trump on his way to the Republican nomination, much like the pink slime from the second Ghostbusters. Everything it touched just became awful and angry and really, really mean.
When it was released, well, it was fine. Ghostbusters 2016 is absolutely fine. It's not the end of comedy as we know it and it is not brilliant either. It's the very definition of a studio comedy that's been worked over a few times by studio executives to make it as palatable for all audiences as possible.
That's pretty much the gist of the Honest Trailer version of Ghostbusters 2016 - we refuse to call it Answer The Call, by the way - and, in a way, it almost felt like they were pulling their punches here.
Take a look and see for yourself.
See? It was fine. There was nothing terrible about it and there wasn't anything particularly good about it. It was just (sigh) fine.
Also, the fact that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver's cameos got mentioned is good - that really bugged us and didn't make any sense whatsoever. What did you make of Ghostbusters 2016? Let us know in the comments!
