It's not every day you hear about a drama / horror about zombies set in Dublin, but here we are nonetheless.
The Cured is David Freyne's first effort as director and writer and is set in Dublin after a zombie outbreak has been cured and those who were previously infected now have to reintegrate into society. One survivor, played by Sam Keeley, is taken in his by sister-in-law, played by Ellen Page, and tries to gather up his life.
As you'd expect, Irish society isn't exactly ready to welcome those who were previously eating brains and trying to kill people back into the community, and things get steadily worse from there. Shot around Dublin, The Cured feels like an invigoratingly different take on the zombie genre and will be screened at this year's Audi Dublin International Film Festival.
