Michael Keaton is garnering serious Oscar buzz for his work in Birdman, where he plays an actor who was once a comic book hero in a series of movies, but fell off the Hollywood radar and is now making a return to Broadway in an attempt to rekindle his lost career spark.
Obviously there are some echos of real life here, and by all accounts Keaton is superb in the film - as is his co-star Edward Norton. But nothing sells a flick quite like a slick viral, and the folks at Fox Searchlight have recut Keaton's second outing as the Dark Knight in Batman Returns for the fake trailer, Birdman Returns.
An extremely smart piece of marketing.
The film is released here in Ireland on January 2nd.
