In Bruges' director Martin McDonagh looks like he's back on form after 2012's so-so Seven Psychopaths, and working with a particularly good cast yet again.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri follows a tough, no-nonsense mother (Frances McDormand) who decides to erect three billboards that directly challenge the revered local police chief (Woody Harrelson) and his investigation into death of McDormand's daughter.
The investigation has been running for seven months with no culprits and McDormand's character decides to take the law into her own hands. In between them is Sam Rockwell, a nebbish police officer who's caught trying to maintain the peace and a community that's turning against McDormand's character.
It's dark stuff, and by the looks of it, it's got all of McDonagh's black comedy and human drama involved. Take a look.
