There's a good chance you'll find more than a couple of well-known characters from either games or movies in Ready Player One's trailer.
Without even trying, we spotted Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Tracer from Overwatch, and possibly Greybeard from Skyrim? Who knows. Either way, Ready Player One is expected to set geek tongues wagging, what with its open embrace of gaming tropes and endless nods, winks and references.
The story follows Wade Watts, played by X-Men: Apocalypse's Tye Sheridan, a loner teenager who spends most of his life in OASIS, a virtual-reality world where people adopt new identities and avatars. When the creator of OASIS dies under mysterious circumstances, he leaves his fortune and control of OASIS to the person who discovers a fabled Easter Egg inside the virtual world.
Needless to say, this doesn't go down well and pretty much causes utter chaos across OASIS. Adapted from Ernest Cline's bestselling novel, the film hits Irish cinemas on March 30th.
