The film stars dreamboat Idris Elba as the eponymous South African leader and follows his life from his early years as a boy, to daddyhood, imprisonment, release and finally his epic journey to presidency.
A new, suitably fist-of-emotion style U2 song, Ordinary Love, features for the exciting bits starting about half-way through the trailer and say what you might about Bono and co. it sure helped to bring tears to our skeptical eyes.
The film co-stars Naomie Harris as Mandela's wife, the formidable Winnie, is directed by Justin Chadwick, the man who brought us The Other Boleyn Girl and will hit Irish screens in January.
