Could this be the start of a career resurgence for Johnny Depp?
It's well-known that the actor hasn't exactly had a box-office hit in quite some time, nor has he enjoyed any real critical praise in a good few years.
Sure, we all loved him as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, but we're 90% sure that was Depp playing a scaled-back, 18th century version of himself.
Black Mass tells the unbelievable true story of Whitey Bulger, one of the most notorious criminals in American history and kingpin of the Boston Irish mob.
Striking a deal with a rogue FBI agent, Bulger turned collaborator with the government in order to take out the Mafia and consolidate power over Boston.
With an impressive cast that includes Depp as Bulger, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Fifty Shades of Grey's Dakota Johnson, House of Cards' Corey Stoll, Kevin Bacon and Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons, we think Black Mass could be a possible contender in next year's Oscar race.
At the very least, it looks like a damn entertaining crime flick.
