Looks like there's more dystopian futuristic sci-fi action coming out way later this year, but hey, Matt Damon and Jodie Foster are involved, so it's got to be fairly decent, right?
Set in the year 2159, Elysium sees the priviliged living on a utopian space station that orbits the earth, while the poor live in poverty on the eh, rather rugged looking planet. Matt Damon is Max, the man who wants to change it all, as you do, by flying on up to Elysium (that's the name of their little space haven y'see) and bringing all the well-off folks like Jodie back to earth. We presume with a bang.
District 9's Neill Blomkamp is behind the camera, while Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga and William Fichtner complete the cast. It does look rather, err, District 9-ish now that you mention it. That said, we're loving Jodie's bleached blonde look.
Elysium hits the US in August, and you can catch it in Irish cinemas from September 20th.
