Mountain lions, icy lakes and freezing to death are just some of the things that Kate Winslet and Idris Elba are fighting against in Hany Abu-Assad's 'The Mountain Between Us'.

We don't know what makes actors sign up for films where they're put through the ringer both on screen and in life (see Naomi Watts in 'The Impossible') but there must be something juicy in this for the likes of Elba and Winslet to get involved. And boy are they getting a rough time in this.

Here's the official synopsis:

Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow covered mountain. When they realize help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness, pushing one another to endure and discovering strength they never knew possible.

'The Mountain Between Us' is set for release in Irish cinemas on October 20th.
