To be fair, there's about maybe 10 or 12 seconds of new footage in this trailer and it doesn't exactly hold much information that we can analyse.
One thing that's noticeable, however, is how Rey is placed more prominently in the trailer than in the original trailer. It's the same with the international poster, too - Rey is the largest character, compared to the previous poster which had Luke Skywalker on top. Why is that, you might ask?
Pretty simple - Star Wars has no cultural legacy in China or Asia in general. Compared to Europe, North and South America, and Australia, Star Wars never really cemented in pop culture the way it did elsewhere and cinemagoers were only properly introduced to the series in the past fifteen years or so. Rogue One and The Force Awakens both had middling box office figures from China, so it's likely that audiences connected more with Rey's character than, say, Han Solo or Luke.
Either way, it's fascinating to see how something as ubiquitous as Star Wars is perceived in other cultures.
Here's the international trailer.
