Like last year’s Brooklyn, this one is definitely going to be going for the awards.
Based on Sebastian Barry’s novel, the film stars The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara as a young woman whose love affair with a man named Michael (played by Jack Reynor) is threatened by a local priest (Theo James).
The film is told through the perspective of her older self (Vanessa Redgrave), who is a patient in a mental hospital under the care of Dr. William Grene (Eric Bana).
With such a cast, which also includes Poldark's Aidan Turner and Love/Hate's Tom Vaughan-Lawlor by the way, this could be a major feat. Not only that but it’s being directed by one of Ireland’s most celebrated directors – Jim Sheridan of My Left Foot, In America, and In the Name of the Father fame.
