In spite of Pixar’s promise that they’ll be moving away from sequels over the coming years, there are a bunch of them on the way, including the likes of Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2, which recently changed dates.
One of the less anticipated Pixar sequels is actually the next one hitting cinemas – Cars 3.
Cars 2 is the least positively reviewed of all Pixar’s outputs. The franchise stars Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, a race car who learns to be more humble after crashing in the town of Radiator Springs.
The teaser for Cars 3 promises something a little darker for audiences as it appears to show the lead character having a bad crash mid-race. The screen then hauntingly reads ‘From this moment everything will change.’
Pixar similarly took a more sombre tone for sequel Finding Dory so we’ll just have to see how this works out when the studio’s latest hits theatres in summer 2017.
