Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro reunite minus Emily Blunt for another go around busting drug cartels in Mexico and this time, there are no rules.
If the original 'Sicario' was all about tension, the sequel looks like it's about lots of double-crossing and explosions if the official trailer is anything to go by. Not that that's a bad thing, we all enjoy some high theatrics every now and then, but this trailer makes 'Day of the Soldado' feel like a feature-length episode of '24' instead of the stomper of a film its predecessor was.
Fingers crossed that's just editing though.
Here's the official synopsis:
In SICARIO: Day of the Soldado, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for.
'Sicario: Day of the Soldado' is set for release in Irish cinemas on June 29th.
