Considering how much mother! is going to creep out audiences, it looks Jennifer Lawrence is going all-out to try and be a part of every disturbing thriller going if Red Sparrow's first trailer is anything to go by.
The story follows Dominika (Lawrence), a Russian agent who is "drafted against her will to become a 'sparrow,' a trained seductress in the Russian security service." Before long, she becomes one of the strongest assets in the program and is sent after Joel Edgerton's CIA officer.
The film reteams Lawrence with Francis Lawrence (no relation, apparently), who directed Catching Fire and Mockingjay, and features a strong cast outside of J-Law and Edgerton. Jeremy Irons, Charlotte Rampling, our own Ciaran Hinds, and Joely Richardson all star in supporting roles, and there's also the fact that it's about Russian infiltrators - so it's definitely prescient in the current political climate.
Red Sparrow hits Irish cinemas on March 2nd, 2018.
