Although two films doesn't constitute a trend, it's interesting to note that there's two biopics around tennis heading to our screens this year.
The first is The Battle Of The Sexes, which follows the match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs - and kind of plays it like some sort of a comedy. On the other hand, you've got the deep psychodrama that is Borg McEnroe with some thunderingly loud performances by Shia LaBeouf as McEnroe.
The film, which is directed by Janus Metz Pedersen and previously did an episode of True Detective's second season and acclaimed documentary Armadillo, follows the brutal rivalry between McEnroe and Borg and the fallout it had on tennis and both players personally. Borg famously retired at 26, whilst McEnroe's career never reached the same heights as his rivalry with Borg.
There's still no official word on when the film is getting an Irish release, but in the meantime, here's the full trailer.
