Dunkirk debuted in cinemas at the weekend to rave reviews with many hailing it as the cinematic experience of the year.
One of the key features that's being praised about the film is its immersive quality with viewers claiming that they felt like they were actually there on the beaches themselves.
If you've yet to see the film yourself and think that people might be exaggerating then don't just take their word for it, take the word of someone who was actually there. Dunkirk veteran, Ken Sturdy, saw the film over the weekend and said the film is as close as you can get to the real deal.
Sturdy was just twenty years of age when he was a signal man with the Royal Navy at Dunkirk, helping to evacuate soldiers onto waiting boats.
"I never thought I'd see that again." said Sturdy, who now lives in Calgary. "It was just like I was there again."
"I was twenty when it happened. I could see my old friends again and a lot of them died later in the war."
