As San Diego Comic-Con rolls on, we're seeing a glut of trailers making their way online.
We've already seen the Wonder Woman trailer, the Justice League teaser and now, we've got the first look at Kong: Skull Island.
Directed by newcomer Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the film is set in the '70s and sees Tom Hiddleston as a former SAS officer who leads an expedition into a treacherous but beautiful island. Joining him is Brie Larson, who plays a photojournalist, Samuel L. Jackson's military man, John Goodman's government representative who's funding the expedition and Toby Kebbell - who's always a pleasure to see.

The really fascinating point about Kong: Skull Island, for us anyway, is how Jordan Vogt-Roberts somehow managed to go from directing a small indie-dramedy with Nick Offerman and a couple of episodes of You're The Worst to what is undoubtedly a CGI-heavy tentpole blockbuster for one of the largest studios in the world.
From what we're seeing in this trailer, Kong: Skull Island seems to be borrowing heavily on Apocalypse Now. In fact, Hiddleston's character is called Captain Conrad, which is an obvious reference to Joseph Conrad, the writer of Heart Of Darkness - the source novel for Apocalypse Now.
There might also be a nod to Sigourney Weaver in there too, as Brie Larson's character is called Weaver. Sigourney Weaver was in Gorillas In The Mist and, y'know, there's gorillas and mist in this.
Maybe we're reading into it too much. So, thoughts?
After the exceptional trailer for Godzilla, we've learned to temper our expectations when it comes to modern monster movies. In our mind, there hasn't been a decent one since Cloverfield and putting a newcomer like Jordan Vogt-Roberts in the director's chair doesn't strike us as inspiring confidence.
That said, it looks like it could be interesting and there's some cool points going on here. We'll know when Kong: Skull Island gets its official release on March 10th, 2017.
