While the original film left it up to viewers to decide whether or not Harrison Ford's Deckard was a replicant or not (and there have been many arguments from Ford and director Ridley Scott each way since the film was released in 1982), the sequel looks like it's leaning pretty heavily in the direction of asking and answering that question multiple times.
There's also plenty of action coming from the Denis Villeneuve which sees Ryan Gosling getting beaten to a bloody pulp and somehow surviving to fight on (a la every Bruce Willis in almost every movie he's been in) but fingers crossed this still has plenty of surprises in store and isn't as by the numbers as this new footage makes out.
Here's the official synopsis:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
'Blade Runner 2049' arrives in Irish cinemas on October 6th.
