Lars von Trier is apparently speaking to Martin Scorsese about remaking Taxi Driver, according to reports coming from The Berlin Film Festival.
Von Trier has apparently "dared" the American director and Robert De Niro to remake their classic, while he would come in and direct it, in his usual teeth-grindingly pretentious way.
I have very little to say about this, so I'll keep it brief. I haven't seen all of Von Trier's films, but what I have seen I hated. The only thing worse than a bad film is a pretentious one, and his are off the charts batshit, masquerading as art. Some people are into that, but I'm really not. Hopefully Scorsese sees sense, or this is all just a hyperbole gone mad from a conversation.
