You know you've made it when you're sitting opposite a movie star in an interview set up, talking about willies. Yes, that's a measure of how fun and laid back Rafe Spall, star of I Give It A Year (and Prometheus, One Day, Life Of Pi) really is. I caught up with the former 'goofy' character actor turned mainstream hunk along with writer and director Dan Mazer (Bruno, Borat) to talk about getting naked, body doubles, giving up weed and how Dan would like to eat Rafe up; standard interview fare.
Genuinely, I haven't had this much fun with movie stars in ages; usually they're a bit tired, they've been asked the same questions by about 400 people who file in and out of the interview room as though on a conveyor belt. These lads however were very much up for the craic. And they should be; I Give It A Year is one of the more fun movies that's kicked off 2013. Rafe should be mightily pleased with himself having now convinced movie-makers that he's more than cut out to star as a leading romantic man.
And Dan too; this is his directorial debut and we expect to see lots more from the man who brought us Ali G.
